Overall, pretty good

Reviewer: Phillip Yang,
Everything was good except the box came dented. The chips feel nice, the deck of cards are low quality but you can just replace them with your own. Definately worth the money.
Good Solid set to have for any poker situation

Just a good, simple, 11.5gr set to have. Everyone should have this set, it's not expensive, and while the top of the line, is easy to transport and allows for an extra set of chips for anytime. It's great for beginners to learn to shuffle chips while playing and can be used as backup or in coordination with most standard (non-casino) 11.5gr chips.
You will not replicate casino quality - but its all you need at home

Good deal. Not much to complain. 500 chips is adequate for upto 8 - 10 players if you set the right denominations
Nice Poker Set

Review Date: April 29, 2009
Reviewer: Jaron,
This is a nice poker set for both serious and not so serious poker players. The chips are pretty nice, but you can see mold marks on some of them, so they arent perfect. However, I dont know who that would matter to, it didn't matter to me. The case seems like its strong, but the hinges seem to not quite open all the way. The hinges on the case are my biggest gripe, but they aren't terrible. Also the velvet like texture inside the case rubs off a bit. All in all, though, the chips are weighted nicely, the whole set seems sturdy, its incredibly heavy. For the price, you cant go wrong. Its fun to play with, and easy to clean up, and its not worth buying a more expensive one, this one is good.
Not the best Poker Set

Review Date: April 13, 2009
Reviewer: Thomas Smotherman,
First off the metal case was all beat up looked like it was kicked down a flight of stairs. The second thing is the chips they have plastic pieces falling off them (burs) plus some chips are cracked open you can even see the metal insert. Price is good the quality is terrible look else where.

Product Description

The Theory of Poker by David Sklansky discusses theories and concepts applicable to nearly every variation of the game, including five-card draw (high), seven-card stud, hold ’em, lowball draw, and razz (seven-card lowball stud). This book introduces you to the Fundamental Theorem of Poker, its implications, and how it should affect your play. Other chapters discuss the value of deception, bluffing, raising, the slow-play, the value of position, psychology, heads-up play, game theory, implied odds, the free card, and semibluffing.

Many of today’s top poker players will tell you that this is the book that really made a difference in their play. That is, these are the ideas that separate the experts from the typical players. Those who read and study this book will literally leave behind those who don’t, and most serious players wear the covers off their copies. This is the best book ever written on poker.

Product Description

What "secret" separates top poker players from poker wannabes?

Is it zen-like mind-reading skills, a computer-like brain or thousands of hours of play? No. It is a series of established approaches and behaviors that enables these experts to bring their "A" game to the table session after session, regardless of short-term results.

In this groundbreaking book, Taylor and Hilger lay bare the secrets of the Poker Mindset: seven core attitudes and concepts that ensure you have the optimal emotional, psychological, and behavioral framework for playing superior poker.

The Poker Mindset deeply explores vital topics that most poker books only touch upon:
- Tilt: What it really is, why and when you are most prone to it, and how you can avoid it.
- Bankroll: A complete examination of bankroll management from a technical, but more importantly, from a psychological and emotional viewpoint.
- Opponents: How to determine your competitors' mental and emotional processes so that you can dominate, out think and outplay them.
- Downswings: Every poker player experiences them, but you will truly understand and be armed against low ebbs when they occur.
- Bad Beats: The Poker Mindset will enable you to overcome the trauma of bad beats and losing big pots.

Poker is a fun game, but it is even more fun when you win. The Poker Mindset may be the most valuable poker book you will ever read. Embrace its concepts and you can overcome the unseen obstacles that are limiting your success at the table.

When you make the Poker Mindset your mindset, you will take control of your game and walk away a winner.

Product Description

Texas Hold ’em is not an easy game to play well. To become an expert you must balance many concepts, some of which occasionally contradict each other. In 1988, the first edition appeared. Many ideas, which were only known to a small, select group of players, were made available to anyone who was striving to become an expert, and the hold ’em explosion had begun. It is now a new century, and the authors have again moved the state of the art forward by adding over 100 pages of new material, including extensive sections on "loose games," and "short-handed games." Anyone who studies this text, is well disciplined, and gets the proper experience should become a significant winner. Some of the other ideas discussed include play on the first two cards, semi-bluffing, the free card, inducing bluffs, staying with a draw, playing when a pair flops, playing trash hands, desperation bets, playing in wild games, reading hands, and psychology.
